CHEDECH: Quest to create the ultimate folding bike!

Postby chedech on Mon Aug 10, 2015 8:30 pm

Hi Everyone! For the past few years we've had a team of passionate cyclists, designers, and manufacturing specialists working hard to create the ultimate folding bike for commuting and other around-the-town trips that require speed, comfort, and the convenience of hand-carry. We've produced a few exciting prototypes that we are currently refining to increase strength while reducing weight. We could use your help to improve our design. Our quest is to build the ultimate folding bike. We hope to have an official release in the upcoming months. Our four basic goals:

1. Folds small in one quick moment, with ease.
2. Light enough to carry by hand.
3. Glides fast and pleasant to ride.
4. Absorbs riding impact for comfort.

Please feel free to post any comments, questions, suggestions, and feedback. Thank you, and safe cycling!

We are folding bike enthusiasts and we really want to create ”The Ultimate Folding Bike." The last thing we want to do is to create a clone of another bike on the market. Chedech must have features and specifications that set it apart! Most folding bike riders long for a lighter model without sacrificing strength. This is one of our main goals, but it often comes down to a trade-off, i.e., lighter = weaker (unless crazy expensive materials are used). So, we need to make Chedech as light as possible while maintaining strength and also riding comfort. Many folding bikes are used for commuting, and the last thing a bike commuter needs is to arrive at work stressed from an unpleasant, uncomfortable ride.

We are working hard to produce another prototype. All comments, questions, and suggestions are welcome! We remain committed to creating the ultimate folding bike, which will primarily be made of carbon fiber.

We produced a new prototype with a different design, but I'm having trouble inserting the images directly into the thread.

Will any forum members be visiting interbike in Las Vegas? We would like the opportunity to meet you and show you Chedech in person.

Hello chedech,

Not personally, but I do know actually somebody who will attend.
Of course I'll beg him to spy at your booth :D

Sorry, no idea why the forum doesn't accept your links, tried to edit them, but without success
Could resize and upload them matching if you want - just let me know ;)

Thanks!! If your friend is interested, I might be able to arrange for someone to specially meet up with him for a test spin or at least a wee google (not the search engine, of course).

If you could try to resize and upload that would be fantastic.

Thank you, I'll tell him in time :D

Well, hope you like the result above; anything wider than 550 pixels will be cropped...
Of course you can still edit everything yourself 8-)

Good luck and have fun in Las Vegas (...little bit envious...) Image

Cheers,

Chris

Thanks, Chris!
BTW, we are also working on a set of high quality, lightweight, but strong . . . carbon wheels! They might now be ready until next year, but thought I'd mention it! ;-)

I hope I'm not violating forum rules by mentioning this. If so, please accept my apology, delete this post, but not the entire thread.

We've received several suggestions to lower the price of chedech to 1000UK/1500US. In response, we've launched a special 30 bike campaign. Our hope is that this first run will raise interest and awareness about our carbon folding bike. As you know, it's a tough market to crack. Hopefully, we can crack it and prove that our frame doesn't crack! ;-)
